Rock Creek is a playground for climbers, hikers, and fishermen – even some summer ski descents may be had – and working here is a joy we all treasure. The Lodge is located at 9,373 feet in the High Sierra, within easy distance of 13,000-foot peaks and sunny wildflower meadows. Miles of alpine trails lead out of multiple trailheads near the lodge, and a creek runs along the grounds. We’re about 20 minutes from Mammoth Lakes and 45 minutes from Bishop, but between guests, staff, and lodge alumni, we’re a mellow community that loves the canyon and don’t spend much time in the “big cities.” Yosemite and Tuolumne Meadows are doable day trips, and multi-day adventures in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park are accessible as well.
We have many great, kind, artistic people returning for another summer season but may need to fill 1 or 2 spots.
Summer Staff Position duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Cabin cleaning and maintenance
- General Facilities cleaning and maintenance
- Ground care and maintenance
- Splitting wood
- Waiting and bussing tables
- Guest services, retail, and reservations
- Food prep and dish washing
Work is available from around late may to potentially late October
Room and board included with California minimum wage rate
Rock Creek Lodge is a beautiful place and a special community, but it is remote and at high elevation with potential for strong weather conditions. Also, these are hospitality and guest services positions, so it is critical for everyone who works here to be a pleasant, easy-going person who gets along well with others and is willing to be flexible and work the occasional long day or in harsh conditions as necessary.
If you are interested in a summer in “the promised land,” living the fife, the dream, or just like working in a mellow mountain environment, send a resume to info@rockcreeklodge.com
